Data Architecture

Data architecture plays a crucial role in enabling the collection, processing and dissemination of the University's data.

Our data is extracted from multiple source systems that flow into Snowflake, a cloud-based data platform solution we leverage when storing our data for analytics. In Snowflake, data is transformed and stored as a “single version of truth” for all usage.

These data assets are then defined and secured against WVU protocols and policies in Informatica for master data management. Informatica is an application that helps WVU manage, sort and make data easy to use.

This architecture drives comprehensive, consistent and timely reporting and analytics using tools like Tableau to the WVU community.

This overall architecture is supplemented with training, resources and continued support.
